One of the big games Sony megaton announced back before Tokyo Game Show 2004, Genji is finally available to Japanese gamers -- no, Japanese consumers, and is selling like mad under the banner of mainstream entertainment. Classical Tim Rogers beats the life out of the game and reports:

Okamoto's previous games, the Onimusha series, were just starting to take some flack in the mainstream, non-game world for being historically inaccurate to the point of portraying wise general Oda Nobunaga as a crazed warlord who commanded demon- and zombie-samurai. Phoenixes, wizards, and flying ninjas be damned, Genji, telling a tale about a young warrior collecting the magic artifacts he needs to physically and mentally prepare him for the fight of his life, represents something of a settled-down maturation.

Come on, read it!!

Tim, it's okay for you to write reviews on videogames.
You don't have to stop or specifically point out that it's "classic style" just because you previously stated a few times that you would stop writing game reviews.

It's okay, man. Just be cool.

Why does my copy have a CERO 18+ on it, then? And why does it open with a long warning that "this game contains graphic violence and grotesque images"?

So let me get this straight: you didn't like Genji?

I've been enjoying it. Only I haven't played it too long and have no idea what the story is about.

I believe you prove your own point!!

You know, I beat Katamari Damashii 2 this afternoon and started playing a save midway through Genji, and have been beating the shit out of motherfuckers left and right with Kamui mode.

I recommend it.

And I gave it two and a half stars out of four. Going by Siskel and Ebert standards, that's a thumbs-up.

So!!

I believe you prove your own point!! (In other words: not playing it for too long and having no idea what the story is about might be the keys to enjoying it. (In other words, it will sell well in America.))

Perhaps you somehow got ahold of the elusive HARDER, SOMETHING, AND UNCUT version.

Oh it's out of FOUR.

I assumed it was out of five, hence the comment...

Ah, memories. I recall finding The Tale of Genji in the university library, and that my decision to read it was basically founded on a desire to have read a book that others had not. Oh, how I paid for that desire.

The theme of this review is historical inaccuracy.

Have you played the game?

Spot the bigger error. There's only one.

GENJI TOTALLY DOESN"T USE BOTH SWORDS!

Actually, to hell if I know. I've never even seen the game up until now.
Speaking of Genji, I watched my friend play through FFVI today. I never knew equipping the Genji Ring allowed you to use two weapons at once. I also never knew there were shoes that made you run faster either. I also also didn't know that you could sleep in any bed and regain HP.

Damn FFVI. I totally didn't know you.

I've been playing a bunch of Final Fantasy III, the last few days. A fan-translation of it, actually. I like being able to use two weapons from the start, as any job class.

I have now given the leading facts with respect to rudimentary organs. In reflecting on them, every one must be struck gucci outlet 2013 with astonishment: for the same reasoning power which tells us plainly that most parts burberry sales and gucci handbags organs are exquisitely adapted for certain purposes, tells us with equal plainness that these rudimentary or atrophied organs, are imperfect and useless. In works on natural history rudimentary organs are generally said gucci outlet to have been created "for the sake of symmetry," or in order "to complete the gucci outlet online scheme of nature;" yet this seems to me no explanation, merely a restatement of the Burberry Scarf Outlet fact.
